Cebu is an island surrounded by 150 other islands and islets. The Spanish colonial past is still present in today’s Cebu from the Basilica Minore Del Santo Niño church and triangular Fort San Pedro. Cebu is also close to Bohol where you can experience a swim with Whale Sharks.

How to get to Cebu

You can get to Cebu from multiple locations as it has an international airport.

Getting from the airport to Cebu

  • Taxi - The best option is going to be taxi, which are easily located from the terminal. Again as in Manila there are yellow cabs and white ones which are slightly cheaper, but often try to fix a price to avoid using the meter.

  • Expect you’re journey to take at least an hour to the centre because of traffic especially over the bridge.

  • Bus – This is more complicated, generally the locals take a bus to the city then get a cab to their final destination.

  • Jeepney – These are vehicles that carry multiple people to a destination or destinations. You pay on a per person basis and is considerably cheaper than a taxi. The only real downside is that your journey could be slower due to scouting for additional fares.

  • Uber – Uber allows you to pay via your Uber account so you don’t have to worry about getting your money out. Uber also gives you an estimate on the fare and it’s pretty accurate.

  • Car Rental – Be sure to check if you can drive here prior to booking. You can also reserve a car online via Rentalcars
